THERMAVEIN THREAD AND LESION REMOVAL

WHAT IS IT:

ThermaVein is a quick, safe, clinically proven and effective treatment for thread veins (red veins), skin tags, Milia (Milk Spots) and Cherry Angioma using Therma-Coagulation rather than laser or light. Therefore, it is safe on all skin types and doesn’t cause photosensitivity (sun and light sensitivity).

WHAT IS IT FOR:

  • The treatment of telangiectasia - otherwise known as thread, red or spider veins

  • Skin tag removal

  • Cherry Angioma (Cambell-de-Morgan) or vascular blemish removal Milia (Milk Spot) removal

DOWNTIME:

The day of treatment For 24 hrs post the treatment, there will be some redness and you cannot wear make-up. Residual redness may persist for an average of seven days post-treatment, for treatment on the face, and three weeks, on the body.

DISCOMFORT LEVEL:

Mild to moderate involving a slightly scratchy sensation. The skin may flush post-treatment and feel warm and stingy, before subsiding. Thermocoagulation is significantly more comfortable than laser and IPL treatment.

RECOMMENDED FREQUENCY

One treatment is usually sufficient for the removal of fine, superficial thread veins on the face while larger vessels, such as those typically found on the nose, may require between one and three treatments, per area. Body veins usually require three treatments. A review is done four-week after treatment, and for body thread veins, after eight weeks. A second treatment may be necessary at this point.

NEED TO KNOW:

  • No exercise for 24 hours post-treatment

  • It is essential NOT to pick any crusting or scabs, post-treatment, should these occur.

  • No sun exposure five days post-treatment

  • No make-up or use of creams on the area for 24 hours post-treatment, other than pure aloe vera gel.

  • The areas treated will be red and flushed post-treatment, fade to pink and will usually remain pink for between two and seven days. Vessel type, body area, skin type and general health are influencing factors. On rare occasions, in those with rosacea, some pinkness may persist for up to 4 weeks.

  • If there is a history of herpes (cold sores) in the treatment area, the prophylactic use of antiviral creams or oral antivirals is recommended pre and post-treatment.

  • Discontinue use of acid peels and retinoids pre and post-treatment until pinkness resolves.

  • Vessels wider than 3mm usually require sclerotherapy or something similar. They are not suitable for ThermaVein.

  • Body thread veins may darken and remain for up to 6 weeks before dispersing.

  • It is essential to avoid the use of self-tan products for ten days pre and five days post-treatment

FURTHER INFORMATION

In ThermaVein technology, Thermocoagulation is generated when energy is immitted via a gentle 4MHz radiofrequency current. Unlike older technology such as diathermy(electrolysis) where much higher intensity is used, ThermaVein current denatures the proteins in the vein wall, making them sticky. The vessel walls stick together, instantly and permanently, causing the vein to disappear.

Spider veins can occur when the valves inside the veins stop working correctly. Veins carry blood back to the heart. To prevent blood from flowing backwards, they contain a one-way valve that closes once the blood passes through them. When valves no longer work properly, and vessel walls collapse, capillaries dilate and appear red or blue.
