WHAT IS IT:
Folliculitis is a general term that describes conditions where a hair follicle becomes inflamed, blocked or infected. Folliculitis can appear as a light rash, significant, deeper red spots or infected lesions and can sometimes be triggered by more serious diseases, health issues or medications.
Folliculitis can result when skin health is disrupted by factors such as: bacteria, yeast, viral or parasitic infections, occlusive cosmetics, ingrown hairs, steroid and other drugs, chemicals, immunosuppression or inflammatory skin conditions.
